Games from Rodeo Reef
Every game is made out of the stories: the same reef, the same friends, the same pictures. They are free to play, and they live in the app.
There are four kinds. They are made for three to six year olds, which means big things to tap, no reading needed to play, and nothing that tells a child off for getting it wrong. A grown-up can hand the tablet over and walk away.
-
Puzzle
Real pages out of a Cowboyapuss book, cut into big pieces and scattered. Put the picture back together and it reads its line out loud. There is no timer and nothing to lose, so a child can take as long as the picture takes.
-
Find it
Somebody small is hiding in plain sight in a busy reef picture: little seahorses, a hermit crab. Look carefully, tap one when you spot it, and keep going until you have found them all.
-
Hide and seek
This time Cowboyapuss is the one hiding, and the trick is picking the colour that matches the place he is standing in. Choose well and whoever is looking swims straight past him.
-
Pairs
Two of every card, face down. Turn one over, turn another, and remember where the first one was. Everybody in Rodeo Reef is in there twice.
Where they come from
A game starts as a story. The pictures a child puts back together are the pages of a book that is already on this site, and the friends they are hunting for are the ones they have already read about. Reading first, playing second, and the same reef either way.
