The short version: read the stories, read them aloud, share the links. Please do not republish them as your own or sell them. Nothing here is guaranteed to be perfect, and it is all free.

Using this site

Cowboyapuss is free to read. You do not need to sign anything, agree to anything, or give us anything to use it. If you are reading this page, you are welcome here.

What you are very welcome to do

• Read the stories, as many times as you like.
• Read them aloud: at bedtime, in a classroom, in a library, at story time. That is what they are for.
• Share links to any page on this site with anyone.
• Quote a line or two, with a link back.

What we ask you not to do

• Do not republish the stories or the pictures elsewhere as your own work, or under someone else’s name.
• Do not sell them, or anything made out of them, or use Cowboyapuss and Rodeo Reef to sell something else.
• Do not copy the site wholesale by machine. A person reading is welcome; a scraper taking everything is not.
• Do not use our stories or pictures to train a model, or to make derivative characters.

Cowboyapuss, Rodeo Reef, the stories and the artwork belong to us. Where an old fable sits underneath a story, that fable is thousands of years old and belongs to everyone; our retelling of it is ours, and so are the stories we invented outright.

No promises about perfection

This site is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it up and to keep it good, but we cannot promise it will always be available, always be free of mistakes, or always contain the same stories. Stories may be added, corrected, or taken down. Nothing here is advice of any kind: they are children’s stories.

Children

This site is made for children to read, with a grown-up nearby. It asks children for nothing at all. See the privacy page for exactly what that means. If you are a parent, teacher or carer and something on this site does not sit right with you, please tell us; that is the most useful thing anyone can send us.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change we will update the date at the top and add a line to the amendment log below.
